03058: Whitening Report

Thursday - Tahanan Tinola

My first oxygen bleach laundry load went pretty well. I soaked some discolored towels and a stained shirt overnight and ran them through the washer this morning. The final result was pretty impressive, with the towels back to full whiteness. The stain on the shirt persists, but that had gone through 1 or 2 cycles since the original incident, so it has largely set. But it did fade significantly, so perhaps it'll mostly clear after a few more washes. I wonder if I'll see any improvements when I try adding some of the powder to my color cycles. Such joy.

It's still going to take me time to phase out fabric softener from my laundry habits - especially since I had just bought a refill a few weeks ago. I did try using white vinegar in this first load instead of softener, but I think the amount I used was too much for the limited amount of laundry I washed. There still seems to be a hint of the smell of vinegar, but I may be imagining it. Habits are hard to break, and my laundry patterns have been set in my head since my grade school days.

I'm just glad that I managed to get all that done despite the mercurial weather today. I knew we had a forecast of rain, but I had banked on things being similar to yesterday. That was largely the case, but the laundry got a good amount of sun before things started to turn in the afternoon. It's raining again tonight, so I don't think I'll push things tomorrow unless the weather turns out a lot better. At least I'm not soaking anything tonight.

Aside: the Murderbot books are SO GOOD. The TV series was just okay, but I hope it continues for a while so we can get to the more interesting books.
