Given recent domestic challenges and a lack of immediate dinner plans, we ended up heading to SM BF after work to address these things. I wanted a wrench to finally install the water filter for the shower, and Tobie wanted something to deal with our sudden ant infestation that bothered him all morning. So it felt like a good enough reason to step out.
We finally tried Sumo Niko, the Japanese buffet that felt more like a samgyupsal place. And maybe it was technically a fusion concept since they typically offer kimchi as a side dish. We didn't expect top-class meat or anything, but it was a decent sit-down buffet. They seem to adjust the quantity of meat based on the number of people at the table, so we had to go through at least three sets of orders. At least they had lettuce as a side dish (albeit 3 leaves served in a cup), so we kept ordering 4 orders at a time instead of rice. The only caveat is that we left the restaurant smelling like meat, and it was a little distracting.
In terms of our home improvement efforts, I found a decently affordable adjustable wrench, and Tobie found ant traps that utilize the borax method for killing the ants. The wrench helped me loosen the stuck shower hose, but our chubby little filter blocks the dial from turning the water back on. At ACE we had already been considering a little water gate extension with the thought of using it to connect the filter directly to the heater, but I decided to stick to just the wrench since it was supposed to solve our problem. But now I REALLY wish I had gotten the other part. As for the ant traps, we've laid two of them out and we're waiting to see if they'll do any good. One of the nests seems to be high up the wall, so the best we could do is to leave one on the top of the cabinet closest to the opening and another near the kitchenette sink.
We also bought a new pair of hair clippers because our old pair finally died on us. It served us well across the pandemic years, so that's good enough. The replacement we got looks almost exactly the same but is technically a different brand. Thank you, JML, for still selling many products we used to classify as As Seen on TV.
After dinner, we got massages at a nearby spa and have pretty much called it a night. We have board game plans tomorrow and RPG plans on Sunday, so it's our typical full weekend.
