A couple more board games arrived at the Sietch today - Ahoy, Caverna: Frantic Fiends, Cantaloop 2, Echoes: The Cursed Ring, and Now or Never. They're mainly sitting on the dining table at the moment because I need to take photos of the covers, maybe unbox some of them, and then figure out where to put them. I'm most excited about the new Caverna expansion, but not for the reason you'd expect.
You see, I had "upgraded" our copy of Caverna with a Folded Space insert - since Uwe Rosenberg games largely consist of all the components dumped into an empty box save for the lies of A Feast for Odin for some reason. The insert was great, and it mentioned that it had been designed to accommodate the Forgotten Folk expansion components...but I had missed the part where it mentioned that it still needed the expansion box to store things. I was hoping for a one-box solution for the game (as is the primary reason I buy these third-party inserts), but this was not the case here. But I saw the was another big box expansion coming and the box dimensions were most likely going to be the same size as the first expansion. Hence my excitement - I'm hoping that I can store all of the expansion content for both sets in this one box with the help of the inserts. We'll find out after this blog post.
We still haven't found people in the area that we can game with regularly, so our continuing accumulation of games can feel a little silly at times. We have been relying on online board game sessions via Board Game Arena or just physically traveling to friends in order to game with them. We might have another in person session this Saturday - which means making the trek past the toll gates in the name of gaming.
Last note: The Residence is AMAZING. I'm not the biggest Shonda Rhimes fan, but this is probably one of the best murder mystery shows we've had in a while. And I say this despite also loving Only Murders in the Building. They are worlds apart and I'm sad that we're down to the last episode already.
