03098: Family Saturday

Saturday - Italianni's Sicilian Salad

After finishing writing my Geeky Guide article for the week, we tried to go to bed early (or at least earlier) since we had to get up early today. No major incidents there, although I did wake up some 2 hours before planned to go to the bathroom, but got trapped in bed again until it was time to get ready.

Today's agenda was going to the cemetery for a delayed visit from last week. We didn't want to join the main holiday crowds, so this seemed to be our next best option. We gathered together with the family of Tobie's sister, as the primary visit was for their family.

However, we did make a detour to visit my father's grave. I hadn't been back here since his burial, and I actually had to ask other friends for the location. I had initially considered bringing something geeky to leave at the grave, but totally forgot about it when we left the Sietch, so there's that. It was a little sad to note that the whole family is there now - my paternal grandparents and our uncles. But it was good to have visited, at least.

Then we had a nice lunch with the family, although I definitely feel like I ate too much, as is the way of these things. We went to Italianni's where Tobie and I ordered the lunch sets, but also ended up helping the family finish other dishes ordered for the group. Tobie also got us ice cream after as a smaller dessert, but a nice end to things.

We're just waiting for a friend to come over for board games as this weekend's main activity. That should make for a good change of pace from this morning's somewhat more somber activity.
