Despite my efforts to be more prudent about my spending, I have indulged in a few unusual purchases lately for one reason. Everything has arrived, so now I can blog about it.
Just as we were heading out to O Bar, I made my first online UNIQLO purchase. I had been getting repeated reminders about a voucher in the app that was set to expire at the end of October. The only caveat is that it was an online voucher that couldn't be used in-store, so I had to risk getting clothes without trying them on, which is weird. I kept going back and forth on whether it was worth buying stuff for a 10% discount, but I gave in eventually. Unfortunately, UNIQLO pricing is such that it was hard to come up with a combination of items that met the purchase minimum cleanly. I eventually settled for a pair of pants (based on the last one I had purchased from them) and a pair of underwear (my first from UNIQLO) and called it a day. I also got cashback from MariBank, so that helped sweeten the deal a bit. And it was pretty impressive that the items arrived today despite my having ordered them on Saturday night. Good job.
The other item I got is a 3-pack of something called Nitro+. Given that all my life, the only hair product I've ever used is shampoo, deciding to get a hair-thickening serum is pretty left field for me. The decision is the result of the unusual confluence of us taking on a hair product client at work and me getting bombarded with Nitro ads last week. While the formulation of Nitro is in no way similar to the product we're supporting in Singapore, it just felt like something worth trying. I know this won't reverse how far my hairline has receded in recent years, but I'm hoping it'll help give what hair I have left a bit more body. As it stands, shining a light on my head tends to result in a fair amount of light bouncing back. They have a whole 90-day money-back guarantee, so that feels like a bit of a safety net. And there's no getting around how a product like this will take at least 3 months of continuous use before it shows any sort of visible effect. It's not as strong as a minoxidil-based product, but it should still help somehow.
I have no shortage of things that I see on social media that I keep considering buying. This includes big-ticket items like a Boox Go Color eReader to a tray whose only purpose is to catch drain water from front-loading washing machine. Oh the little things that keep life interesting.
