I can check an item off my list - my Alpaka Elements Backpack Pro arrived today! I didn't need to wait for Black Friday because I ended up getting the item over 30% off thanks to a timely TikTok Shop coupon. That felt like an insane discount, plus they threw in another Micro Tote as a freebie. To add to the craziness, I haven't actually paid for it yet - I got a 1-month deferment after finally signing up for TikTok's PayLater feature. So I haven't even technically paid for the bag, but it has already arrived.
On a related note, my electric toothbrush conked out for some reason - the internal mechanism came apart, so the brush stopped rotating. Tobie had a similar issue with his brush during the last change a few months ago, so I switched both brushes to keep them in sync. The fact that the same issue happened again with a batch of brush heads all purchased at the same time has me a little worried. I know I ended up with a third-party Lazada seller for them, and the items came from overseas, so that's fishy. I didn't go with the official store at the time, as I couldn't quite tell which brush heads work with our io3 units. A lot of them seem to be generic across io devices, but I didn't want to make any assumptions. I ended up getting a replacement pair via their TikTok shop this time around since (1) this one was clearly marked as being for the io3 and (3) it was somehow cheaper than Lazada. I missed out on my Shopback cashback by going with TikTok, but the outright discount made it more than worth it.
It's interesting how aggressively TikTok Shop is trying to make it a legitimate shopping destination. I've already made my last few Alpaka purchases there, especially during their livestreams when even more discounts are offered. I know I scoffed at it initially, but it's really hard to ignore at this point. It all provides a lot of value, and I won't say no to money - every peso counts!
I'm trying not to start scanning TikTok for other things on my list, like the controller or even my next phone. Let's spead that spending out a bit more just to be responsible and such.
