Before I sat down to write this week's Geeky Guide article, Tobie and I played a few games online, namely, a round of Let's Go! To Japan and two rounds of MTG Commander via EDH Play. I wanted to get some gaming done last night before losing myself in the writing. That made writing the article take a little longer than hoped, as I could feel my brain slowing down here and there. But the final result was satisfactory, so that's good enough for me. I'm still trying to find the sweet spot for articles to write every week. I'm still on the fence about writing strategy guides, but I'm checking the site stats to see what's working and what isn't.
We managed to leave the Sietch today to canvass refrigerator options. The older one-door unit that was already here at the Sietch really isn't big enough for our needs, so we've been looking to upgrade. We had looked at the options at SM BF, but wanted to do our due diligence and check out other stores. Thus, today's adventure had us going to Alabang Town Center, which is a terribly confusing mall that I don't feel eager to revisit anytime soon. We could have gone to one of the standalone Abenson branches, but I figured a mall would make more sense so we could settle brunch and any other incidental errands at the same time.
Good news: we finally settled on a fridge. We had seen the same model at SM, and maybe it was a smidge cheaper there, but the customer service at Abenson was so much better, and they have next-day delivery. So the new unit is going to arrive tomorrow, which feels like a good use of the fact that we're mostly home this weekend. And I still had a bunch of rewards points built up, so I got to charge the entire delivery fee to the rewards account, so no cash out. Tobie and I are pretty sure about our measurements, and the unit should fit in the limited alcove we have for the current fridge. Beyond increased storage capacity (it's a two-door unit!), we also got the one with the highest energy efficiency rating for this size of fridge, so it should mean more efficient energy use in the long term.
I've already checked in for my flight (it's that time!) and I'm working on my other travel docs today. Best to be ready early versus rushing on the day.
