So the Iglesia ni Cristo spearheaded a mass protest action at the Edsa People Power monument this morning to protest the potential arrest of Senator Marcoleta for plunder and graft charges. Former Senator President Alan Peter Cayetano even joined the protests and added his voice to calls to people to join other protest actions. It's annoying that they called for a mass demonstration because the man incriminated himself on record. No matter how religious or god-fearing he has presented himself to be, it's very likely he committed crimes, and those need to be properly investigated and tried. And if they're going to protest just him potentially getting arrested...how is that even Christian?
I have no qualms with INC for their religious beliefs. However, I am very much against the rather active role they seem to take in national politics time and time again. So much for the separation of Church and State.
Beyond that, I'm some 13 books behind my reading pace needed for the end of the year. It's more behind than I'd like, but not something I can't rectify before the end of the year. I've shifted back to LGBT romance numbers to clear more titles quickly, but I also keep stumbling on longer titles in my collection, which doesn't help me. But I can read only so many really trashy novels in sequence - then I need something more cerebral as a palate cleanse.
I really need to get back to comics, but I haven't really had much time for them, given everything else I've been juggling. Those tend to go by faster...except when I read full omnibus editions, which make for VERY inefficient reading haha. I know, reading should be for enjoyment, and it still is for me. But the goals do give me a nice bit of impetus to keep at it and sort of "benefit" from all the reading that I do. So when I fall behind like this, it just reflects I'm taking my time with books that I enjoy more, along with just being busy living life beyond my Kindle.
Such is my geeky life.
