03011: Physical Stupidities

Wednesday - Dory Pasta

It's my second week of trying to insert some structured physical activity into my days apart from hitting 10,000 steps, and I seem to have somewhat injured myself already. My basic routine has consisted of a series of stretches for my frozen shoulder, then a 10-15 minute light yoga flow while I work my way back towards my prior level of physical activity and flexibility. I've been very careful because I'm worried that I'll push too hard and aggravate my shoulder again.

This week, I decided to step things up by reintroducing some dumbbell swings into my pre-yoga routine, as this was part of my frozen shoulder exercises last year. I also tried something with a foam roller against the wall, but that felt a little awkward. Within the day, I could feel some pain in both shoulders and my left wrist, which was a little troubling. So Tobie and I stepped out for a massage last night, and that helped a bit. But I'm still feeling sore today.

I've gone back to bodyweight-only exercises to build shoulder strength, and I had to limit myself to a much lighter flow today. I hope all this clears before the weekend - no one wants to celebrate LGBT Pride with random soreness all over. But yay, age and some bad form in my exercises, probably. It's hardly the first time I've exercised myself into minor injuries, and I doubt it'll be the last. But I'm still determined to get back into more of a routine, so I'll do what I can to keep up with things. I only worked out 3 times last week, so let's aim for 4 times this week, maybe?

Or is that just a sure path to further injury?
