We survived Komiket Pride 2026!
Well, to be fair, I survived one day of the event. Tobie had to survive two of them. And as much as there were a lot of people at the event today, Tobie shared that there had been even more people yesterday. How was that even possible? At least I was around to help support Tobie with responsibilities like trying to keep him hydrated and fed throughout the event.
We had skipped the other events earlier this year while Tobie focused on finishing volume 1. But with the book's expected release just around the corner, it looks like we'll be making the rounds of the convention circuit again. This proves somewhat expensive for me, since I do like supporting independent creators. Today I left the event with a good number of zines, comics, and various queer accessories I hope to use as gifts, but we'll see how they are received. Pride month things.
We tapped out a little early since Tobie's social battery was totally drained. Two days of manning a booth will do that to you. And best to save our energies for other activities. But still, Komiket Pride always feels extra special versus other Komiket events and is always worth the effort. There's just a different energy in the space with so many queer creators gathered under one roof and the other members of the community who show up to support everyone.
I finally feel like I'm celebrating Pride Month.
