Despite staying up a bit to write an article about escape room games for the Geeky Guide (which didn't publish at noon as scheduled!), I was surprised that I woke up pretty early this morning. And I didn't even have support from the nephews. As this was my last morning in Singapore, I figured it was prudent to get out of bed as soon as possible and see what else I could do.
I hung out with the nephews while waiting for the coffee to kick in. The older one was playing Spore, and the younger one was pointedly ignoring me, since he knew I was leaving today. We stepped out to grab takeaway breakfast, and I also got to resolve yesterday's minor pasalubong issue. It was both a delicious and productive morning.
The additional items that I needed to add to my luggage just barely fit. I was rather worried that the zipper would give way once the airport staff processed it, and I very nearly went with the backup plan of junking the LEGO Tintin Moon Rocket box and just bringing the baggies. But it seemed secure enough once I had everything secured, so I took the gamble. Spoiler Alert: no issues upon returning to Manila.
I waited for our parents to come to the house to see me off, which means I cut things a little closer than I'd like (but realistically had plenty of time). I had some last-minute inspirations for things to grab at the airport, including a few more gifts and some silly Singapore keychains to use as extensions for the zipper tags on my Alpaka Flow Satchel.
The flight home was largely uneventful, save for a rather rushed boarding procedure. The cabin crew initially skipped giving out the hot towels and only distributed them once we were at cruising height - which is rather weird for Singapore Airlines.
NAIA was actually not too bad, which was the case during my last transit through Terminal 3. The new eGates were working fine, and it's good they no longer ask for everyone's boarding passes. I didn't have to wait too long to get my bag, and it didn't explode with chocolates and LEGO all over the place. And since Tobie was still at Komiket Pride in QC, I had to take a Grab home, and it was actually pretty easy to do so despite the gloomy weather.
I spent the time waiting for Tobie unpacking my bags, going through all the deliveries that had arrived while I was out, and contenting myself with some keto peanutbutter as I wanted to wait for him for dinner.
I'm truly home.
