We're about to start getting ready to head out for O Bar's 20th anniversary event. Today is also the death anniversary of my friend, Jayson. It's not the first time the anniversary event has coincided with the day of his passing, and it always feels most fitting. He had been trying to get me to go to O Bar for literally years, and I only got around to it when I got together with Tobie. We got to O Bar together just once, and then we lost him the same year. I never forget him, especially around this time of the year. When I dance, I know he's dancing with me.
In more domestic news, the LG repair guys came over this afternoon to look at our washing machine. Once they had opened the machine, we learned that the dryer assembly had gotten shaken loose since the machine had been slightly off-balance ever since we moved to the south. The guys had to fish around for the screws that had vibrated loose and reattached over a dozen of them to get the dryer back in alignment. One of the wires had gotten cut in the process, so they'll have to come back to settle that, but at least we can wash clothes safely again. The front panel is still in need of replacement since the selector dial hasn't been very responsive for some time, and that'll require a quote from the main office before we settle things. That'll be the expensive part of this particular repair effort, but it should be manageable.
As long as the weather holds up, I'll at least be able to do my pre-trip laundry, which was my main worry. And it's not like we absolutely need the dryer since we have been prioritizing sun-drying the clothes ever since we moved here to the south. I'm just glad the drum wasn't damaged again. That would have cost an arm and a leg.
Last note - I started reading Looking for Group (Amazon affiliate link), another queer romance novel by Alexis Hall. The way this man writes astounds me because he manages to explore such diverse types of romances with amazing detail. This book explores two characters falling in love in a WoW-style MMORPG, and you can tell that he used both firsthand experience and extensive research to make the book feel so authentic. How he is able to do that with such different story genres amazes me. I thought I'd take longer with this book, but instead I blitzed it for most of the night and finally finished it this afternoon. Totally worth it every darn time.
I'll save my O Bar anniversary musings for tomorrow's blog, I think.
