I made to trek to BGC this afternoon for our company Christmas party. We had arranged for dinner at The Alley by Vikings, and it certainly made for quite the diverse dining experience. I was surprised that the budget worked out for the venue and for some raffle prizes - totally worth gathering most of the team together in person. As much as everyone appreciates the flexibility of a remote-first work life, it's still nice to meet your colleagues in person.
It was nice to be back in BGC for a bit, although the total experience was made shorter because of the challenges of getting a Grab ride on a Friday in December and overall Metro Manila traffic. But it was still a good little trip out, especially since I managed to secure a Christmas present before I joined the team for dinner. More items checked off my list!
It's a quiet night at the Sietch tonight since we're steeling ourselves for the big O Bar event tomorrow. The only other thing is waiting for the LG technician to come over tomorrow to look at our washing machine and determine what might be wrong. As is the way of repairmen, I don't have a specific time when they'll be able to come over. So we'll have to be on standby all day until they do.
It would be nice to squeeze in a trip to Ayala Malls Manila Bay because the Shuttlepod that's the Gift With Purchase for the Lego Enterprise-D is finally available for pickup. A good friend helped me secure the Star Trek Lego set last week, but the GWP wasn't in stock yet. Now I have to go back and get it to complete this ridiculously expensive set. I'm just glad that we'll be able to get it at all - these recent GWPs have been notoriously quick to run out for different Lego releases. Whether we can fit it into our weekend agenda will depend on what time the LG guy comes over.
Have a good weekend, friends!
