We entered this weekend only expecting one game night but ended up with a solid weekend of gaming instead. All the more, we have to be thankful for friends who make time to meet up and play.
Last night's big game night had a good mix of games across two tables. Tobie started with a bigger game, this being Wondrous Creatures. I ran an alternate table where we got to play more games while they finished their session. We got to play two rounds of Monkey Palace, followed by one round of Villagers. But our last game took a little longer, so the other table got to squeeze in a session of Spots.
As players needed to start going home, we consolidated into one round of 12 Days of Christmas and then settled in for a lengthy session of Terraforming Mars with at least 5 expansions included.
We also are too much good food, but what else could you expect from a big game night, right?
Today, we squeezed in loose plans to have at least one friend over for board games. When we arrived, we got started with Fire Nation Rising and still lost on the beginner difficulty. But another friend joined us, so we deferred our initial plans to play Inventions and instead played another round of Magic: The Gathering Commander with a mix of Doctor Who and Lord of the Rings decks. Tobie managed to win in the end after a very fulfilling set of upsets and the usual table trickery.
Finally, our efforts to learn more of our own board games payed off because we quickly taught them how to play ORBIT and this game gets as crazy as expected with a full table. We wrapped things up by getting them to help us with today's EXIT: The Room Advent calendar before it was time for everyone to go.
As much tomorrow is a local holiday, only Tobie won't have work, so we couldn't opt to play longer. I'm just glad that we got to play at all instead of just letting the weekend pass us by.
