After hunkering down to finish Babel (Amazon affiliate link), I have brought my book life into order. I still have the family book club and a work-related book in my reading queue. But now that I've cleared Babel, I don't quite need another lighter book to balance the heavy ones. I'm taking another stab at the Dark Age books for now, and I'm trying to push my comic book reading by working through Detective Comics, starting with the Rebirth era. I'm still tempted to go back to the Magic books, but I don't want to spend on the books just yet. Gotta content myself with what I have in my virtual library for now.
I got to spend some of my work time on more internal items versus the usual client stuff, and that was quite the relief. It lets me exercise a different part of my brain, plus all such efforts feel like a longer-term investment in the company's future. That still assumes that I can get a decent amount of people on board with whatever I'm implementing - and that's always a challenge, regardless of the size of the company.
Today's grocery run was a little depressing. I guess the weekend typhoon had complicated the supply chains. We resupply on Wednesdays because they restock midweek and we stand a decent chance of getting what we need. I guess that didn't happen today, so there was hardly enough vegetables to work with beyond the bare minimum stuff. I adapted our purchases to align with this reality, but I don't have to like it.
While I have made some initial early Christmas purchases thanks to 11.11, I'm still trying to figure out a lot of the family gifts. These always take a bit more creativity, and I'm giving this a lot of thought. I think I have a good idea of what I'm going to get the nephews (very important!) - I just need to actually buy the stuff. These are distinctly non-Lazada gifts, so I can get them a little closer to the date just to be sure.
Yeah, I just vomited this blog entry directly out of my brain and onto the virtual page. Happy random update!
