02F2F: Strategic Gifting

Monday - Whatever Soup

Late last night, things calmed down despite Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong), which I guess was the eye of the storm crossing over Metro Manila. There was little to no rain, and the strong winds that had been scaring us the whole day had died down. The winds and rain picked up again early this morning, but by then the typhoon was officially outside the country. We had pockets of sunshine alternating with strong rains all morning, but by the afternoon, the sun was mostly out. At least this one passed through the country quite quickly.

Right before I started writing this blog post, I already checked out my (initial?) Lazada 11.11 purchases, because the mega sale actually begins at 8pm the day before, instead of at midnight for one reason or another. November is always the big one since I try to squeeze in some early Christmas shopping, and this tends to make up the bulk of my purchases. I've managed to check off a good number of O Bar people from my list, while the others I'm still trying to figure out if I can get something more unique versus previous years. I still hold that I was raised to think of gift-giving as something competitive that one can "win" at. And this is certainly a challenge that I enjoy being "successful" at, based on how people receive the gifts.

The 11.11 sale will last at least a day after the 11th for most participating retailers, so I hope that I figure out the gifts for more people on my list before then.

Last note: Just as I was finishing this blog post, I thought of another gift and managed to find something that matched that idea. Huzzah!
