Today started on a very odd note - multiple power fluctuations. It wasn't weather-related - the sun was out most of the day. It turns out that Meralco was checking our meter, and thus, they kept turning things on and off. I missed my first mobile phone alarm, but I didn't miss the UPS beeping to tell me it was no longer connected to an active power source. They fixed their tests or whatever before I started work, at least, and all they had to show for things was supposedly a small dead snake inside the thing? The details are a little fuzzy.
I was not prepared for this to have resulted in different minor complications throughout the day.
First, our communications with the main house were spotty - calling was fine, but when Tobie's mom mentioned she had sent us messages about this or that, we told her we never received them. It was only then that she mentioned her TV was unable to play streaming services, so I had to figure out what was wrong. The WiFi network I had set up there was still active, but there was no internet service. Resetting the mesh routers didn't do anything, so I had to investigate further. I noticed that I had been unable to access the router remotely through the official app - so after some testing, I went through the setup process again, and it recognized the existing network, so things started working after that.
Later in the day, I needed to take a quick shower after completing my steps. I was rather looking forward to it since I had taken a cold shower with low water pressure in the morning because of the Meralco work. I was already rinsing off when I realized that the water was still cold despite the heater being on. It was only then that I remembered that our heater goes into a weird reset mode after a power interruption. I had to go through a particular button sequence to get things back in working order, but it did make for a weird way to end the day.
Hopefully, things will be more normal tomorrow. I didn't even get to do any laundry because of the power malarkey.
