Typhoon Uwan/Fung-Wong is definitely here. The rains were rather intense around noon, but since then, it has been more moderate showers, accompanied by some very intense winds. The eye of the storm should be crossing over Luzon around this time, but that hardly means the worst is over. We still have power, water, and internet service as of this time, but we've started to experience significant power fluctuations already. Fingers crossed that things won't get any worse.
The winds are definitely the scariest part of this particular typhoon so far. It's looking pretty hairy out there.
I'm still glad that we managed to game while the weather was calmer. And we certainly played a good mix of games.
One player arrived earlier, so we started with a good warm-up round of Lords of Waterdeep, which is always a good worker placement game to bring to the table. We didn't play with any of the expansions just yet, but it didn't diminish the fun of the game. Once the group was completed, we moved on to Concordia (Amazon affiliate link), and this absolutely needs the Salsa expansion (Amazon affiliate link) every time. This game is always fun to play through, even if the overall level of challenge can be steep, given all the different scoring methods you need to keep track of.
We then had our first playthrough of Inis (Amazon affiliate link), and this was the first time any of us had played this particular game. It took us all a while to fully wrap our heads around its unique paths to victory, and I think we'll need a few more games before we have a full understanding of things to a degree where we can really plan out strategies. And finally, our last game of the night was a good round of Ahoy, which marks only the second time Tobie and I have played the game. It was my first time using the smuggler role, and it felt very different from the default incumbent faction. Tobie managed to win with his own smuggler, and I'm just glad we got to play that again.
