02F26: O Bar Cosplay

Saturday - O Boys Cosplay

So our crazy Halloween costume idea for this year was...dressing as the O Boys at O Bar. It wasn't overly elaborate. And yes, this was supposed to be the basis for another costume, and we had to pivot at the last minute. But we still pushed through with it and had a lot of fun despite being quite exposed for the night. Then again, this year's O Bar Halloween Liberation Party felt particularly risque with a lot more participants opting to show a LOT more skin than we did. Tobie had managed to order some tattoo sleeves to help complete the look to be closer to Jonbel and RA, the more tenured members of the group. Plus, the additional sleeve helped warm us up even just a wee bit.

The group costume that won the contest of the night involved a group of friends who decided to dress up as SM crew - a mix of cashiers, baggers, and even a security guard. Along with someone dressed as a Dunkin' Donuts guy, costume ideas like this say a lot about how popular these brands are or what people think about them. Following a similar line of thought, it takes a specific kind of bar-goer to decide to dress up as people you see at the bar - and this wasn't even our first time doing so. At least this time, we didn't go for portraying the owners. 😅

We weren't alone - one of our friends dressed as one of the waiters, and was well-received by the staff. Most patrons probably had no idea what Tobie and I were dressed as, but the O Boys figured it out soon enough, and even a number of the O Divas realized what we had done. And that's all that really mattered to us - that our O Bar family understood what we had done.

The main thing here is that we all did this because we love O Bar and the people who make it happen. Choosing to portray them is really a celebration of all that they do to make every night extra special and memorable. And I guess it was only a matter of time we'd try something related to the O Boys - something that became all the more perfect when we saw their outfits for their final number were pretty much neon versions of the white tank tops we had worn. And while we don't quite have the physical stature of actual dancers, at least we found a way to make the reference clear without looking like we were making fun of them or something.

So yeah, it was a fun Halloween, and we had a good group gathered at the table. The show was great, especially with the likes of Ruffa Mae Quinto gracing the O Bar stage. There were a lot of brilliant Halloween costumes, but mainly, I was just glad to celebrate this particular holiday with many of the people most important to us.
