02F12: Gaming Persistence

Sunday - Kanban EV Board Game

We weren't sure if we'd still have gaming guests last night and we would have been good either way. But friends still made the effort to drive over after another event as we all needed some in person gaming needs that needed to be fulfilled.

We didn't get to play a lot of games, but at least we played some rather substantial ones. After warming up with 13 Animals, the first request was to teach Kanban EV (Amazon affiliate linkto continue a friend's exploration of Vital Lacerda games. It'll always take a fair amount of time to teach any of Lacerda's really big games, but it's ultimately a solid experience. And this update to one of his oldest games is definitely a lot of fun, even if it's not THAT different from the original 2014 games. The other game we got to play was Creature Caravan (Amazon affiliate link), as it was something our other friend hadn't tried yet. As far as Ryan Laukat games go, this one is a really interesting one. Beyond the distinct art style and such (as seen across all of his games), this game nicely combines several game mechanics to result in a pretty compelling puzzle. I managed to get all the way to the other side of the map but still lost by a few points - so close!

Today we had an online RPG session for Horror on the Orient Express, and it's nice that we're feeling a bit more regular again. We had some scheduling hiccups across our campaigns the other month and we're only starting to get back into the groove of things now. I hope we can keep up the pace until the end of the year - or at least until before the holiday period.

Other than that, the weekend hasn't been too crazy. We've had to deal with sporadic rains, so staying home has made a lot of sense.
