02F0A: Another Convention Day

Saturday - Tobie & Komiket October 2025

We've gotten through the first day of this year's Komiket October event, and it was a pretty good day. The highlight was Tobie doing a live reading of excerpts from his comic, which was a first for him. Beyond that, it was a pretty typical Komiket with a good number of attendees and a decent amount of booth traffic. There weren't as many familiar faces among booth visitors, but we certainly got to chat with other exhibitors whom we're starting to consider friends in many cases. And that still made it a good day overall.

Meanwhile, I got a lot of reading done, including hitting the KPI for our family book club book and wrapping up Where The Boys Are (Amazon affiliate link), the second book in William J. Mann's Jeff O'Brien series. I kept on going while helping out at the booth, plus doing some art shopping of my own at the event. Fun stuff all around. And we have one more full day to get through tomorrow.

This particular event is definitely more of an arts and crafts event than a comic event. Komiket has always had to juggle both creative directions; that's not new. But I guess when you look at the size of the venue and how the booths were segmented, you'll understand what I mean. And it's neither good nor bad - it's just the nature of the business. Plus, it allowed me to do some creative early Christmas shopping that will save me some time and stress as the holidays draw nearer. I'll see if there's anything else I can get tomorrow, just to check more friends and family off of my list.

Anyway, we should get some rest. Boothing can take a lot out of you.
