02EFC: Magical Power

Saturday - Magic: The Gathering Commander Night

I thought today was going to be rather light with only our game night to look forward to, but we actually managed to resolve our electricity issues. Shortly after getting up, we made a quick run to SM to look for the replacement circuit breaker, but the ACE Hardware there had limited options. Thus, after a quick lunch, we moved to the larger Wilcon in Alabang to see if they had a breaker that more closely matched our existing one, and thankfully, they had it in stock. We got two breakers in order to have a spare, as we figured that it would be needed eventually.

The only thing left was to try to schedule time with the electrician, but we also had our MTG Commander session today. I expected things to get fixed on Monday, but thankfully, he offered to drop by and arrived shortly after all our guests arrived. It turned out the extra breaker was needed as the physical connector of the one we had doubled up as a workaround also needed to be replaced. He didn't take much time to get things settled, and the Sietch is back to full operating capacity again.

Our main goal for today is to play at least one round of Magic: the Gathering, then we'd play whichever board game would come to mind after. We had a very interesting mix of decks today, including my all-Doctors deck that I had built using 3 of the precons versus two Bloomburrow decks and the Sauron precon. I nearly won the whole thing, but I undercommited for my last attack and died to the squirrel deck. But it was a very fun session overall, so no regrets there. And I'm just glad that my Frankenstein deck worked decently enough.

While we still love board games overall, there's something comforting about getting to play Magic again. And to have a new deck that I had built on my own, which nearly won the game, left me feeling really good. I don't think this is going to push me to buy more cards or anything like that, but it's still a unique type of fun.

More gaming ahead!
