02EDD: Grocery Inconsistencies

Wednesday - Osaka Takoyaki

SM BF really isn't a fun place to do grocery shopping. But it's still the nearest mall with reasonable prices, and proximity really is our primary factor for consideration. This is also because our shopping days are weeknights after work, so time really becomes a constraint. I guess we could try to map out grocery shopping further away with a greater consideration for time, but that would mean needing to carve out time from our weekends to do that.

Wednesdays seem to be our "best" night for grocery shopping since this coincides with one of their restock cycles. This doesn't guarantee we can find all the vegetables that we need, but it covers most of the bases more often than not. The other week, Wednesday didn't work out too well for us, and we ended up going over to Shopwise further down the main road in order to pay for overpriced veggies over there. Today,  cabbage felt unusually expensive, so I settled for a smaller head together with some more affordable wombok. It didn't look like I had enough to work with for sinigang, so it'll be a lot of quicker dishes this week, I guess. Still no decent broccoli or cauliflower.

Beyond that, there really isn't much to do at SM BF. It's also our default movie theater, but even their Director's Club theaters are barely worth it since a lot of times the movies seem to be a little out of focus. There are no particularly exciting restaurants, nor is there a great toy store. It clearly wanted to be a fancier mall, but it's really just more functional. I guess it's devolving into more of a community mall of sorts?

We should probably venture outside of the SM ecosystem, but then that would sort of waste our efforts to consolidate rewards through the SM Advantage platform. Among the nearby alternatives is a Robinson's Supermarket, but I suspect that'll feel a lot like Shopwise, just with a different color scheme.

We've been living here for 8 months now, and this part of our routine still feels off - like a bit of a compromise or something.
