As part of today's work preparations, I buzzed my hair short. I had been telling myself that I needed to cut my hair since the weekend, and only got around to doing it this morning because I could feel the time crunch. We typically cut hair in the evenings during the slow time after dinner, but I had prioritized other things this week, so here we are.
I checked, and I actually have a 2018 blog post where I wrote about the increasing occurrence of white hairs on my head. It's 2025, and the frequency of white hairs appearing has only increased since then. I used to take the time to pluck the few erring hairs I could spot. These days, I've given up on that and my only strategy for dealing with things is trying to keep my hair short as the white hairs are a wee bit less evident that way.
Something happened once I hit 40, and they just started to multiply rapidly. Don't get me wrong - my hair is still predominantly black for now. But the white hairs are too many to pluck and evident enough that you can't miss them. The same goes for more and more white hairs as part of my facial hair and other parts of my body. There's only so much that I can do to manage things. We have approached one of those "it is what it is" situations.
In non-age-related news, I finally made the time to contact BPI after receiving a text message about being eligible for an upgrade to a Platinum Rewards Card. While I'm not looking forward to the higher annual membership fee, the rewards points earning structure is definitely more generous than my current Gold card, and there's the promise of some degree of airport lounge access. I know it's not entirely free for BPI cardholders, but it's still something. The lower threshold for earning reward points is the main attraction of this thing.
