Yesterday's gaming session went pretty well. It was a new friend who was eager to get into the board game hobby but didn't know how to start. So we had offered to host an introductory session for him. We started with some of our typical gateway games - in this case, Love Letter and Splendor, and he demonstrated a good knack for picking up the games quickly. We progressed to Lords of Waterdeep and managed to end the night with another classic we haven't played in a while - Fortune and Glory. And man, that was quite a lot of fun, even though we struggled with it initially, because it has been quite a while since we last played the game. A lot of these intro gaming sessions become a good reason to dig up less played games in our collection.
On the whole, it was a great day of gaming, and I think we'll be gaming with him again in the near future. We've definitely helped to foster a new board game player, given how things went. I just wish he lived nearer - the people I chat with who seem most interested in gaming end rarely seem to live in our immediate area. But hey, this is better than nothing. Plus this most recent guest doesn't necessarily live near, but he's willing to travel, which is a potentially more important factor.
We finally had time to grocery today, but could only go after work. Monday nights are a truly terrible time to shop at SM BF, and we really need to figure out an alternate schedule for our shopping or try a different supermarket entirely. The nearby Shopwise tends to be better stocked, but the seem to be catering to a higher class of customer, given the general pricing of items and the focus on organic produce. SM BF is generally the most convenient in terms of proximity, plus I'm still invested in trying to make the most of our SM Advantage card.
Or maybe I should gamble on online grocery delivery to augment our supplies instead of us venturing out. So many options.
