Since we had a double O Bar schedule planned for the week in honor of a drag queen's birthday, we filed leave for today to avoid overly tiring ourselves out. But after the first O Bar night, I had to wake up pretty much like normal in order to get to BGC to accompany my mom for important errands.
At least Tobie got to sleep in.
It was a full schedule for me and Mom and it was interesting to be back in BGC. Most things remain the same - the weekday traffic, the preponderance of Starbucks branches and whatever else. But other things are different like more establishments that have closed and even more Starbucks branches. This certainly made for interesting conversation with Mom as we walked around BGC trying to clear as much of what needed to be done as possible.
I only relied on Grab Car to get to and from BGC today (versus pre-booking a taxi service) and the experience wasn't too painful. In both cases, I was able to book a car on the first try but the actual costs of my travels were quite significant. I thought pre-booking a taxi would come out more expensive given how they factored in tolls, but it wasn't that different from Grab, so I guess it all evens out. I just need to accept that solo trips to BGC will always cost this much - or more on busier days or less favorable timing.
I got back to the Sietch in the afternoon and still had to catch up on some important work tasks before being able to relax fully. My personal priority became sleeving the cards for the SETI board game that arrived this week just to give the game a bit more durability. I also wanted to sleeve the cards for the Weapon X Legendary expansion but didn't get around to it since I prioritized working on some O Bar videos. I managed to clear the first set from Thursday last week, but in doing so I almost forgot to update this blog.
Now we're getting ready to head out for Ruby's actual O Bar birthday show and I'm very excited to see how it all turns out. See you there!
