02E40: More Weekend Gaming

Sunday - Alpaka Slings

Yesterday's game night was a lot of fun, even if we didn't last as long as have in the past. As mentioned in yesterday's blog post, we got there closer to 05:00pm and that had us diving into our first game almost immediately. We kicked things off with Creature Caravan and then used Incan Gold as a quick palate cleanse that was something we could all play. And our last big group game was the deduction game Murder in Miami, which was fun to puzzle through even if the ending was a little anticlimactic.

From there we split into two groups and played a variety of games. This included the likes of Bus & Stop, Square One, the Star Trek Deck Building Game, Imperial Miners (with the Aztecs vs Weirdliings expansion), and Harmonies. At this point, people started going home, so the last few gamers standing ended up playing Meenakshi Temple. We still played a lot of games even if we wrapped up before 04:00am. And the other good thing is that we played a lot of new games, so that's always a good thing. Our game collection is ridiculously large and we're in a constant battle to get more of the games in the collection moving when we can.

I somehow woke up for our family book club meeting in the morning then washed a load of laundry. Given how hot it has been this week, we might as well make the most of that to help clothes dry faster. We ended up making a quick run to the nearby SM for this week's groceries and to resolve the question of what to have for brunch. Plus how can anyone say no to mall air conditioning in this heat, right? The Sietch is better supplied now, even if we're still quite inconsistent in the cooking department.

For the afternoon we had our Horror on the Orient Express RPG session. We still made a decent amount of progress with the story despite one of the players being unavailable today. We're still playing all of our TRPGs online via video conferencing just for convenience, but we'll see if we'll ever be able to transition back to actually gaming in the same space again.

I had a weird spell in the afternoon of feeling oddly hungry despite a decent lunch and some snacking right before the game. I did feel better as soon as our salads arrived, but I don't understand what that was. I haven't even been perfectly keto this weekend, so it couldn't have been something like the "keto flu"...but it did sort of feel similar to that. Hopefully, it was just a weird system hiccup. I feel generally better now, but I recognize that I probably need to catch up on sleep after this weekend's festivities.

And last bit of news - our new Alpaka bags arrived today! The Elements Tote that I got for Tobie seems like the perfect option for quick trips out when Tobie wants to bring his iPad. My new Bravo Sling Mini v2 also arrived, which has double the volume of my Flight Sling and represents a slightly more robust carry option for days I'm running errands. The Flight Sling is still the ultimate minimalist bag, but things fit almost too precisely that I have little room for anything else.

That's our Sunday for now. Let's hope that the workweek ahead is productive for everyone.
