While trying to blog on the flight to Singapore, I discovered that I had hit Canva's free storage limit and it was blocking me from uploading the image I wanted to use as a blog post header. This was annoying as it was hard enough trying to blog on my phone, so I agreed to the premium free trial just to get past the immediate issue.
Now it's a new day and I need to address this. I appreciate how Canva has helped me develop a generally consistent look for my blog headers so I don't just end up using raw images as headers. But I don't necessarily need to pay for storing images on Canva - I'm already paying for Google One's 5TB plan at this point. I was already regularly deleting uploaded images but they still sit in the trash for 30 days. I guess I haven't been deleting images often enough, especially given how all of my O Bar videos rely on Canva templates. So now I'm trying to be a lot more aggressive on the deleting front since I need to lighten my account's file load before this 2-week Premium trial goes away. I don't know if that will be enough, but it's worth a shot. Otherwise, I'll probably just create another Canva account or something.
Beyond clearing uploaded photos, I also figured that I should clear older designs since it's not like I really need any of them. That amusingly brought me back to 2021 when I was super experimenting with Canva templates and my different blog post headers look so different from one another. I was going kinda bonkers with trying out different layouts, fonts, and color treatments. It looks like I didn't settle for the current look of these headers until 2022, so that was a crazy little journey. I'm totally not a designer and I think Canva can only go so far to help me in this department.
Back to the trip, things have been pretty good so far. I didn't have issues going to sleep but I did wake up here and there because of my nephews maneuvering around our shared bed space in the night. I woke up before my alarms because the boys get up before I do and you just gotta roll with that.
Work itself was pretty good and it was nice to see the Singapore team in person again. This also marks my first visit to the new office, which is looking pretty cool but also remains a work-in-progress for now. We had moved into the new Sietch in January and the team had generally moved into the new office last month. The year has started with a number of changes indeed.
I'm feeling a little beat - today's workday ended with helping out with moving some of the tables around and such. And I still cleared my daily step goal despite being largely indoors today. Perhaps I'll be able to balance things out better tomorrow.
