02E11: Post-Moving Pains

Tuesday - Tahanan Lunch

It is the eve of Chinese New Year and we only had half-day operations at work. It was a pretty light day and I ended up using the latter part of my shift to sort through the physical paperwork that I had brought with me as part of the move. It was a mix of personal papers and office-related papers, so it still felt like a good use of my time. My weird mid-week holiday period has begun.

I spent the rest of the afternoon settling chores and processing O Bar videos. We had to get the bathroom cleaned again after the revitalized pressure tank resulted in a LOT of dirty, rusty water to come out and stain everything again. It's part of the challenges of reactivating a space that hasn't been in use for so long. There are worse problems after all and on the whole the new Sietch is really coming together.

Tobie and I both have Wednesday off for the holiday, but we don't have any firm plans yet for what to do. It would probably be prudent to just invest time in cleaning and organizing things as we're still getting our lives back to true normal, but we'll see how it goes. Mid-week holidays aren't fun, but a shared holiday between us is a delightful rarity I feel like we should try to make the most of.

I am feeling the crunch of getting our cooking back into order. While we do get to share lunch with Tobie's mom, our evenings have defaulted to delivery and takeout and the options here are not as diverse as BGC. In addition, a lot of the food options appear to be in Alabang and Las PiƱas and we seem to randomly run into delivery complications where orders get canceled or arrive some 2+ hours after we place the order. It's getting a little frustrating and I know we'll be better off once we have proper control over our own meals again.

It's interesting how our priorities for our moving in things shifts from week to week. Everything is important but urgency is relative to what's going on at the time. And tonight's particular food annoyance as I had to cancel a Foodpanda delivery since the chat agent could not provide any assurance when our order would be delivered despite confirming the restaurant had prepared it over an hour ago has definitely added more urgency to the need to prepare our own meals sooner rather than later.
