02DE1: Hump Day Hurry

Wednesday - Mushroom Pasta

I knew this week was going to feel very short given our family's holiday plans, but there's something about the "Wednesday hump day" vibes that really stresses this point. I'll be headed to Tagaytay on Friday night, so there are only really two more nights at the Sietch before the trip - including tonight. So little time.

Thinking about all this had me rushing a load of laundry today as I go into "pre-trip mode" as it were. Every time I fly to Singapore, I endeavor to fully clear all pending laundry so Tobie doesn't have to worry about clothes. It only makes sense to do the same now as I will be away for like 10 or so days. Funnily enough, that's just about as long as my average Singapore trip plus the fact that I'll also be seeing the nephews during this period.

It's going to be an interesting holiday for sure. We don't always get to celebrate together, so it's a blessing in itself that things have been arranged so that we can do just that. I just wish Tagaytay wasn't so cold. LOL

Beyond the laundry, the only other thing I'm considering is whether or not I should put effort into wrapping my presents. We're trying to be a little chill about the holiday given travel makes things more difficult for my sister. I'll definitely try to wrap the presents for the boys at least. Then I'll see if I still have the energy (and the wrapping paper) to work on the rest. Man, do we even have tape? I'll need to check.

On top of all this, I've been steadily working through my O Bar photo album queue and my video queue (which are separate things). On the album front, I'm already caught up to around September, which is pretty awesome since I was still in like January just last month. For videos, I'm down to the videos from last weekend, which was the anniversary stuff, so that'll be a lot.

One newish thing is how I'm now trying to create YouTube shorts from my videos. My initial experiments involved trying to highlight key moments from some videos, which is tricky since I shoot in landscape but Shorts are a vertical video format. Copyright restrictions limit which videos I can easily "Remix" into Shorts using the YouTube video as a base, but recently I've learned I can go back to the original video file and choose to convert it to a vertical Short right away. Thankfully, Google Photos allows me to restore the original video back from the cloud for re-processing in YouTube.

Now I'm using the format to highlight more of the funny bits when the performers try to engage with my camera directly or I catch them having a little fun in the background of a bigger performance. It's easier to do this as I work on my video queue, but I keep catching moments that I want to highlight as I go through the photo albums. So I end up going back to the original video and then re-cutting it into a Short before moving on. It's a bit of extra work, but it's definitely fun work. The longer videos are still a great way to showcase the amazing productions that O Bar stages. But the Shorts are really more for me - something to enjoy as it reflects the friendships we maintain with the performers themselves
