02DDF: O Family Bonding Time

Monday - O Bar Family

The aftermath of O Bar's anniversary weekend has left me with around 100 videos in queue for processing and maybe some 7,000 photos - it's probably more, but let's leave it at that. The bottom line is that we had a really great weekend and I did my best to document as much of it as possible using my phone. Thank the stars for power banks as they're the only way I can survive big O Bar event nights with just a single device at my disposal.

And I guess leaning into my O Bar ramblings of love, one of our modest "achievements" (and continuing goal) is being able to hang out with the different performers more and not just limit our interactions to when they go around asking for tips after the second set. It's not easy to get time with them as O Bar is a pretty demanding job, along with any daytime work they may have. So getting any of them to linger at the bar after the show isn't easy since they probably have another night of performances to get ready for the next day.

So we're extra thankful when we manage anything approaching an hour just to get to know them better, hear their stories, and, of course, celebrate their successes. Extra time after the show still feels like the easier opportunity worth pursuing for now because it feels even harder to steal some of their time during their rest days (which are typically working days for us) because we also want them to get enough rest given all that the life of an entertainer can demand on all of them. But we'd totally want to hang out with them more even outside of the bar - it's just a question of when, where, and, really, how

Let's see how we can better address this in 2025. They deserve all the love and support in whatever form we can help leverage for them. And when that fails, it would still be fulfilling to just bond with them more and reinforce the friendships.

Obviously, I'd rather think about O Bar instead of talking about work here. Short answer - it's going to be a very busy December from the looks of things.
