This week I processed well over 200 applicant resumes for a particular job posting and conducted at least 15 initial interviews. This was on top of my regular duties and screening for other open positions at the company. I just really wanted to tackle the queue as aggressively as possible as I want to clear this sooner rather than later. I know I won't have quite as much available in the future, so I had to make the most of the week. I have a potential shortlist forming, but I need to reflect on the interviews thus far before making any firm decisions. Plus there are still more interviews scheduled next week, so the queue keeps moving.
After all that, I'm really looking forward to O Bar tonight. It's the birthday show of four different performers - one of the O Divas and 3 of the O Boys. This marks the first birthday show for all of them - which is sort of a rite of passage for O Bar artists. Plus it's one for the rare times that a birthday event is being held on a Friday night, which could represent an interesting shift in O Bar schedules. Saturdays are always busy whether or not there's an event so having events like this move to a Friday is sure to bolster numbers for the night. But it also works in our favor as I rather like Friday nights at O Bar a wee bit more - although we'll have to see if an Friday event night will end up being as stressful as a Saturday event night.
Birthday shows are special because the bar really gets to shine a spotlight on individual performers and this helps bring greater attention to their talent and artistry. Then for us, they feel like days of family obligation. We will always do our best to be there for a birthday show, even if this means going to O Bar quite regularly as it's always someone's birthday in any given month. I even have everyone's birthdays plotted on my Google Calendar just to help us plan our other activities around when we project O Bar event nights to be.
I cannot stress how seriously we take all this. Our O Bar family...is truly family to us. And thus we'll always do what we can to support them, celebrate them, and do what we can to make them feel supported.
So that's how were shaking off this workweek and kicking off our weekend.
