01962: The Transformation of Cubao

It surprises me how much Araneta Center has evolved over the years. My family has always gone to places like Ali Mall over the years and most people in Manila have watched some event at Araneta Center at least once in their lives whether it's a UAAP game or some international concert. But in recent years there has been a massive effort to develop the area.

Now we have a series of rather pretty-looking condominiums, particularly the Manhattan Garden City development along Aurora Boulevard. A lot of the older malls have been refurbished or are in the process of being renovated significantly - just look at Farmer's Plaza today. We have a major hotel under construction under the brand of Novotel and there's even a new PEZA-accredited cyber park that's growing alongside the existing call center facilities for EGS and Telus.

Cubao was already pretty convenient since there are decent malls nearby and good grocery options whether you're more of a Shopwise person or an SM Hypermart person. And the new Spark Place development that was put up by Robinson's also looks pretty interesting with yet another call center already staking a claim on the location.

The place is really changing all around us and all the more I feel like we shouldn't leave the area any time soon. I just wish I felt more confident about the townhouses in the area since we seem to have at least 1 fire incident maybe once a month.
