0125B: Moving Pains

In what may seem like a rather hasty decision-making process, I've decided to set up this new personal blog here on Blogger to continue the what I had started with my LiveJournal blog, Beyond Dinobot Island. In fact, the hexadecimal code above is a direction continuation of my blog count from LJ as well - just to ensure things remain generally consistent.

This current URL of http://rgsunico.blogspot.com/ is only a temporary one. I've order placed an order for RockySunico.com through Blogger / eNom and things should normalize in a few days.

The domain name is the result of a lot of consultations with Tobie, some friends and of course the social web at large. And the roll results were quite strongly in support of RockySunico.com versus my other option, which was "rgsunico.com".

This site is far from complete, but it's generally workable for now. I side-stepped the challenge of figuring out the "perfect" look and feel for the site by going the way of Blogger's new Dynamic Views, that allow a single template to have the versatility of seven. It'll do for now, until I decide to really hunker down and design something more robust.

But I'm enjoying this template for now. It has a nice somewhat minimalist feel to things and yet it does provide for a fair amount of customization. Also, this format currently doesn't lend itself well to advertising, which may be the right direction to take for a personal site as opposed to how I handle the Geeky Guide. Still, you can expect a lot of other customizations to come into play with this blog versus the limitations of the LJ environment like website analytics, more robust syndication options and other fun tweaks.

At the end of the day, longtime readers from my LJ can expect generally the same kind of personal content here as what I used to post (like as of yesterday). This is primarily a vehicle for my thoughts on various matters, a way to unwind after a stressful work day and an avenue for me to process my thoughts in a manner that works for me. And if the rest of you just happen to enjoy my ramblings, you're free to stick around for the ride.

  4. This is quite awesome! I'm loving the Dynamic Views! They're very interactive... not quite sure how much of a resource hog this would be though, but still loving it!

    XOXO,
