First, the full game log for yesterday's game night.
We started with the escape room game Clue Escape: The Midnight Hotel, which is a line of games we've never tried before. Tobie had picked up two of the games from this line secondhand, and we didn't know what to expect. While the 3/5 difficulty adventure had a lot of rather straightforward puzzles, it was still quite enjoyable overall. It had a fun 3D map that sort of reminded you of the original Clue board, and beyond "escaping", players still need to deduce who the guilty player was in the end. This case did not involve a murder, so instead we needed to figure out the criminal, which server they stole the data from, and what password was used. It's still the "guess 3 things" format of the original game, just tweaked to fit the story.
We then played Peanuts Talent Show!, which was our second time to play but a first for the group. It's a relatively simple trick-taking game with a nice addition of deck building mechanics. Then we got to try Doomlings for the first time, which is great since this game has remained unplayed in our collection for some time now. I think this game may get a bit more play in the future now that we understand how it works.
We had to split up into two play groups at this point given the number of players. I hosted a vanilla session of Clank! Catacombs while Tobie introduced the others to Minecart Town, then the group had time to platy a round of Metro Bingo while we were finishing our Clank game. We had a quick round of the Hello Kitty reskin of Flip 7 while the group was still complete, then we played Creature Caravan with the remaining players as our last big game of the night. I rather like Creature Caravan, probably better than many other Ryan Laukat games, and we should probably try to play with it more.
For today, I still had our family book club meeting before lunch while Tobie slept in to recover from game night. I eventually went back to sleep and got up later in the afternoon with just enough time to visit the monthly village market at the park. Our main activity for today is watching the stage adaptation of About Us But Not About Us that I'm REALLY looking forward to.
