Today was my last workday in Singapore, and it was still a rather busy one. We had a lengthy meeting at the start of the day, and I had to conduct an interview after lunch. The rest of my day was catching up on paperwork and other tasks of importance, because, yeah. And this felt a little ironic since the older nephew didn't have school today and was quite eager to just play as much Spore as he could.
I checked in for my return flight and was surprised to see how full it was. When I fly alone, I don't bother pre-booking my seat since it doesn't really matter, and I tend to get a decent seat during standard check-in. In my younger years, I'd aim for a window seat for a more interesting view and to avoid being bothered by people, but these days I aim for a center aisle seat just for convenience during the flight and the increased likelihood of avoiding having a seatmate. That is not the case for my return flight, primarily because it's a smaller plane with no center aisle, and I only had like 3 possible seats I could swap for my pre-assigned one, and they're all middle seats between two other passengers. I'm not exactly looking forward to how that flight is going to go, but I'll figure it out. The only thing that matters is that I get home safely.
But first, tomorrow is the older nephew's birthday, and I'm glad that I'm still around to join the celebrations. I already invested a fair amount of time this week to add more creature parts options to his instance of Spore, because he's content just making alients more than playing through the actual campaign. I haven't gotten him a proper birthday gift, but he's at that weird age when he's not as impressed by toys and tends to prefer experiences or maybe food. I'll think of something.
