Tobie didn't get enough sleep last night, so he turned in early. That leaves me virtually alone for the night, since I still need to finish this week's Geeky Guide article and maybe get some more reading in. If any of you aren't doing anything tonight, I'd appreciate some virtual company, hehe.
And I need to figure out dinner for just me, which most likely means resorting to fast food delivery.
I tried logging back into MTG Arena for the heck of it and picked up my free virtual Hobbit packs. But the interface really isn't all that great, and I feel I get a lot more Magic played thanks to EDH Play. Maybe I'll uninstall this monster of a game app and move on.
Recent discussions related to new games being exclusive to the Switch 2 have revived my interest in getting a dedicated game controller for my laptop. Our last console was our PS3, and it's unlikely we'll return to the console world anytime soon. Board games take up most of our time, but I still sit on a fairly significant Steam game library. But when I tried exploring some of my recent game purchases, I keep running into the pop-up warning that the games I wanted to play (namely Keeper and the Patapon collection) require a game controller for the optimal experience.
This brought me back to my interest in the Steam Controller because there has been a lot of good feedback about Steam hardware in recent months. But the cost kinda blew my mind (about 20k), plus the lack of official local support made me take a moment to think about things a bit more. After some research, I suspect that I'll be perfectly content with something like the 8BitDo Pro 2 (not even the 3), given its retro feel, PlayStation-style symmetrical layout, and the fact that it costs practically a tenth of what the Steam Controller does. I wouldn't be opposed to someone getting me the Steam Controller as a gift, but I doubt I'd want to spend that much on myself.
There's still no rush getting this, but I just feel better after having done some research into what feels like a more practical solution to help me play more of my platform games on Steam.
