It had rained most of last night and a better part of today, so there was no leaving the Sietch in this weather. Tobie's signing event at Fully Booked BGC got cancelled due to safety concerns. Our only agenda item was to play board games and/or Magic: the Gathering online, so we agreed to start earlier since we were all just at home.
Tobie and I had played Ark Nova last night (and he won), then we all played it again this afternoon (Tobie won again). We followed that up with the BGA implementation of Canvas (finally, a win for me!), then it was time for a dinner break. After dinner, we dove back into Magic, and Tobie managed to win both 3-way Commander games, but it was pretty close at times. Our virtual pod has agreed to experiment with building random commander decks as long as we stick to Bracket 2 and avoid the top 1,000 commanders. It results in some very weird choices, but it's a good exercise all the same.
In-between game turns, I've also managed to work my way through 3 volumes of the ongoing Batman comics, which helps my efforts to get my reading back on track. In the interests of min-maxing my finances, I'm still holding off on pulling the trigger on Kindle Unlimited and Marvel Unlimited as long as possible. I have no shortage of digital books or comics to read, and I know I should make more of a dent in my collection before going down that road. And whenever I come across books on sale that are also available via Kindle Unlimited, I just add them to a dedicated wishlist for future borrowing. At this rate, I should be able to hang on until I can sign up with the benefit of a discount or deal of some sort.
This birthday weekend is pretty quiet indeed.
