Today has been a busy day.
Since we had the Komiket event at the QC Public Library, we knew we couldn't stay up too late last night. It still took me a while to get this week's Geeky Guide article about how to transition from Cascadia to Cascadia: Alpine Lakes took a little longer to write than hoped, but I still got it scheduled before heading to bed.
I had set alarms to wake up around 930am, but ended up getting up before 8am to use the bathroom and didn't go back to bed after. Tobie woke up before 9am, too, so at least we had time for a quick breakfast and some coffee to get us going.
The event itself was very different from the big Komiket events in a way that felt a bit more direct. It's definitely easier to conduct a book reading in an enclosed space versus on stage at a noisy convention hall. I still ended up buying a few titles while there after hearing their readings or presentations because I'm still such a sucker for local creators.
This was followed by a fun dinner with many of the other creators. We are too many carbs and talked about a lot of crazy things ranging from celebrity crushes to underrated media we'd recommend to others. It ate into out planned gaming time to some degree, but it felt worth it to network a bit with Tobie's komikero peers.
It's not ideal to go to an all-night game night a little drained after an event, but this monthly meetup is important to us and we wouldn't miss it for the world. Plus, it's my birthday month, so this is as close as I'll possibly get to a proper birthday party of sorts. Like I said yesterday, I don't really have anything big planned this year so this and O Bar are pretty much it.
We brought some pretty big games with us, but let's see if we'll be able to go through all of them despite being rather tired from the event.
