03041: Tuesday Activities

Tuesday - To-Dak To-Dak Stir-Fried Octopus

I just finished The Gate of the Feral Gods (Amazon affiliate link), which is the fourth book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series (Amazon affiliate link). They're fairly lengthy books, but they're also relatively easy and very enjoyable reads, so I've been steadily working my way through the series. The only complication is that this fourth book is the last one I managed to get on sale, save for Book 7. I'm trying to be smart about my Kindle purchases but focusing on getting books only when they go on sale. This has been the case for all Dungeon Crawler books that I own thus far - I got Book 1 first, then Books 2-4 went on sale, and finally Book 7. I'm enjoying the series, but I also don't necessarily feel like I need to rush-purchase the next book to keep up the momentum or something. But it is tempting.

To balance things out, I've decided to start my long-planned re-read of the Discworld novels - at least some of them. I figure that I'll jump around the different "threads" within the series. "Traditional" for me would be to go with the Death novels first - Mort was my very first Discworld book. But I might as well go straight for the throat and go back through the stories of the Witches, which are always some of my favorite books. I haven't done a proper Discworld re-read since Sir Terry Pratchett died. I'll stop before things merge with the Tiffany Aching books, then decide if it's time to go back to Carl.

We got a massage after work today, then hoped to finally try the Singapore-Malayasian restaurant that we can never seem to catch. We got to the restaurant while the lights were still on, but they were already closed. This forced us to look for somewhere else to eat, and we ended up finally trying To-Dak To-Dak, which used to be Won Chicken. We haven't had much luck with the Korean restaurants in the area, as their style of cooking feels weirdly different from what we're used to. But today's dinner was a bit of a revelation, and it feels a lot like Tang, a restaurant that we still love but is all the way in BGC. We've yet to try their bossam, as the single order was way too much for two people. but we're eager to go back and bring friends to help us try more items on the menu.
