Today was the first day of the Philippine International Comics Festival 2026 (PICOF), and Tobie's Diliman Generation Now Vol. 1 officially exists as a physical book. Despite Typhoon Inday, a good number of people still showed up for the event and got copies of the book. Apart from taking care of Tobie, I also got to go around and pick up a few titles of interest from both local and regional creators. Our regular participation in past PICOF editions and various Komiket events has made me rather familiar with a good number of creators, and it helps make these things feel like little reunions.
There were uniquely fun moments, like Tobie receiving magnets from his publisher as a bonus for early buyers. He had no idea this was coming, so it made him very happy indeed. And there were a number of interesting interactions with people who came to the event eager to get their copies.
I'm glad I took the day off today since it freed me up to experience things and to accompany Tobie's mom to the event. I'm sure today will feel like a warm-up for the rest of the event over the next two days. More people should be free to visit PICOF tomorrow, as long as the weather doesn't get worse. Let's hope for the best.
Now I need to figure out how to blitz out a quick Geeky Guide article for tomorrow without resorting to staying up too late, as is our habit on most Friday nights.
