I cleared pretty much all of my reports at work this week, which makes it a pretty good week. It means that I don't have any urgent work tasks casting a shadow over anything else I do this weekend.
I spent the early evening unboxing our copy of Earth: Animal Kingdom and assembling the LaserOx insert that had been an add-on for the Kickstarter campaign. I've repeatedly blogged about how much I've come to enjoy custom game inserts that allow for expansion content to get consolidated into the base game box. And this one manages to do just that, albeit with some unfortunate box lift. But you gotta love laser-cut wooden boxes like these - they really add something to the overall look of the game, even if the actual assembly process was quite painful on my fingertips.
The actual game expansion only has limited content, and I think the insert costs more than the game did. But hey, those are the kicks when you want to increase utility upgrades for your board games.
It's a Friday night, and I still have no idea what to write for this week's Geeky Guide long-form update. That's going to be the greater focus of the evening, but I don't want to lose all of my time to that effort, as that will feel too much like work. Oh joy.
Last question, for those of you who have gotten this far. Does anyone want to join us at O Bar for an upcoming event on the 16th? I'm asking around in the hopes of finding a few people to bring with us because we need to make the most of the table. And sadly, most of our usual O Bar friends have been busy for a better part of this year, so we're moving hoping to find new people to go to the bar with.
Happy Friday, everyone.
