Tobie left for his Iloilo work trip this morning. I had weighed aiming to wake up in time to see him off, but that ran into the challenge of two of my constraints related to sleep. First, it can take me a while to sleep, but once I do sleep, it tends to be pretty deep. When I eventually wake up, no matter how early, I tend to struggle to get back to sleep, so I end up just going straight on to other things. Tobie was aiming to be at the airport before 06:00am, and that was a little too early for me to manage. Ironically, I still ended up waking pretty early because Tobie had to call to confirm something, and I'm glad that I actually did wake up. I had contemplated just getting up at that point, but I gambled on a catnap and managed to be on time for work still.
Outside of work, I'm seriously getting back into Cities: Skylines after watching a couple of videos on how to get started. It has literally been years since I last played the game, and the accumulation of game updates and other DLCs I had picked up across various Steam sales had made the game almost unrecognizable. I'm a lot better oriented now, and after starting and restarting my city 4 times, I finally have a fairly decent city running. I'm still dealing with the curve of continuing to grow my city, but at least I have a better handle on things like on how industries work, and better future-proof planning for this like transportation. I don't know how long I'll have the patience for the game, but it is something to do while Tobie is away.
Not that I don't have more O Bar videos waiting to be processed or board games to review. But hey, I need some downtime, too. And the Sietch is pretty quiet without Tobie.
