I mentioned that we tried playing Earthborne Rangers last night as part of our game session. What I realized too late is that I didn't take any photos of us actually playing the game the whole time. I guess I got too involved in learning how to play the game. It's just as well, we only went through the prologue game, which is really more of a gradual introduction to the deckbuilding aspect of the game. We'll take another stab at things soon enough.
Our last big game for the night was Tend, just because we wanted our friend to experience its ridiculousness. It's a decent game they looks gorgeous on the table, despite the little things that make it feel a little weird here and there. And playing Tend needed a proper palate cleanse with the superior (and more efficient) Three Sisters. Seriously, it's a much better game that's a lot more portable. Tend is something else entirely, but There Sisters is the superior roll and write farming game.
We ended our game night early enough for me and Tobie to test out a few more games before heading to bed, so I brought out a few of the smaller games I had picked up during my Singapore trip. We went through the Japanese games Phone Wallet Keys and Shall We Dance, and the Malaysian game Nasi Lemak. Naturally, Shall We Dance was the standout game, but it was released by the fairly established Saashi & Saashi. The other two games were indie creations with their own bit of charm, but still quite rough around the edges.
Today has been light. I had a family book club meeting to start the day, and I got to run two loads of laundry. Tobie managed to get some good veggies at the kadiwa market, even if one of the farms had taken a holiday. We had a good massage in the afternoon and have been lazing at home with the first season of the live-action One Piece playing in the background. We ended up ordering out for all of our meals tonight because I didn't feel like cooking - we'll try to make up for things during the workweek proper.
I hope you all had a good long weekend.
