I'm looking at our calendar for April, and it seems that we have a fair amount of availability for different weekends, which is a bit of a bummer. And while we've been putting a lot of effort into trying to meet more people for gaming recently, and we have met a lot of fun players. But despite over a year of living in the south, I still can't say that we have an alternate gaming group in the area that doesn't need to pay toll to get to us, if you get my drift. And the ongoing conflict in Iran isn't helping, so all the more I feel bad when we try to invite people to travel a long distance to just be geeky with us because that doesn't help with efforts to conserve fuel.
It's sort of similar on the O Bar front (even though the bar didn't move south), as we've been struggling to gather enough people to fill our regular table at the bar. A lot of our friends just seem to be busy with other things, so even if we're only inviting them for event nights, things rarely seem to work out. We've been weighing just getting a smaller table, even on event nights, since people just aren't able to join us.
All this is rather frustrating. We remain understanding that everyone has different priorities and whatnot. And it's not like we're super open to leaving the south to visit friends, so it's only fair that it's equally challenging to get people to come over. Admittedly, our social circle is pretty tight, and we're feeling the strain of having limited options. But cultivating new friendships, even just for gaming or O Bar nights, takes a fair amount of time and effort as well. So I don't foresee having new faces at the game table or our O Bar table anytime soon.
So yeah, this post is just a ranting post since I'm figuring out our personal events calendar for April, and it could be busier. But there's still time, so we'll see how things play out.
