I've completed most of my pre-flight stuff - checking in my flight, the various immigration forms, and paying for my travel tax. That last one was delayed since the TIEZA website domain lapsed into expiry over the weekend, and only came back to life today. All that's left is to pack my bag, and then I'll be off to the airport before 11am since my flight is around 2pm.
Beyond the bureaucracy, my other priorities have included washing everything that I can so Tobie doesn't have to worry about clothes, securing the last of my pasalubong for my sister, and even a few care packages for some of the O Bar people. This got me thinking about my priorities and how I handle things.
There's that popular discussion about the 5 love languages and how we express love may be different from how we receive love. They're not absolutes - we're bound to tap the different languages here and there depending on our priorities and such. As a writer, I figured that Words of Affirmation are probably one of my primary ways of expressing love for friends and family, but I may be off the mark there. As much as I can write a lot about my feelings (especially on this blog), I don't always verbalize my feelings. If anything, I've been working on being more open about how I feel ever since Tobie and I got together.
I now recognize that maybe my predominant ways of showing my love involve either Giving Gifts and/or Acts of Service. And the fact that I like to give very practical gifts just means my gift-giving probably counts more as Service. I honestly get a kick out of finding an appropriately practical gift for just about anyone - it gives me a lot of joy. And this is especially true for those in my closest social orbit. I know I keep this circle quite tight, but you'll definitely know that you're in it when you are.
I can't drag this out. I need to finish packing before tomorrow's flight.
