The Project Hail Mary movie is in theaters today, but Tobie and I have made arrangements to watch it on Friday instead. Originally, he had an online RPG session today, hence the decision to target Friday for the movie. But his game got cancelled, and I have to admit I was feeling a significant amount of FOMO. But hey, I've waited this long for the movie, so I can wait until Friday.
I've already warned Tobie that I've been wanting to talk to him in a manner similar to Rocky the alien, and I've been waiting to do so ever since our family book club tackled the book in 2023. It's always weird when I share a name with a movie character, but I can't complain when it comes to this particular Rocky. He's the best, and I can't wait for Tobie to fully experience the story, even if just the movie adaptation.
On the trailer front, the first teaser for Dune: Part Three came out, and things are looking pretty good so far. I recognize a lot of Dune Messiah in the trailer elements, and some of the decisions for how to visualize them on the big screen are pretty interesting. I wasn't expecting to see Robert Pattinson in the trailer, but now that I know who he's playing...it could be interesting. And now, I'm waiting for Dire Wolf to announce what new Dune: Imperium expansion they're going to launch to coincide with the movie's release at the end of the year.
I also enjoyed the trailer for Maul: Shadow Lord, and it has me wondering if it's time to re-subscribe to Disney+. The different animated Star Wars shows remain near and dear to my heart, and it looks like this series is going to be similarly awesome. It's a rather niche period in Star Wars history to explore, but I'm all for it.
Tonight, we just watched the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day after the weird social media nonsense they tried for releasing the trailer in many tiny pieces at first. Things look pretty good, although the new suit doesn't seem very physically flattering for Holland. There are aspects of the trailer that I can't immediately translate into a comic book equivalent, so I have many questions at this point.
But all that can wait - we have a day with the Hail Mary on Friday to focus on first.
