02FAB: Adaptive Weekend Activities

Thursday - Hackensack Apple Pie a la Mode

Happy Pi Day! Today is also Albert Einstein's birthday, and I'm still the type of guy to have both events marked on my personal calendar for one reason or another. We don't typically do anything for either event, but we did manage to have some pie for dessert when we had dinner out, so that was fun.

The weekend has indeed been rather quiet thus far. Instead of learning a new board game, Tobie accommodated my wanting to go through some of the Board Game Arena implementations of different games, thus we ended up playing Star Fluxx, Forbidden Island, Dice Hospital, Emberleaf, and Sushi Go! all via BGA. They're generally solid implementations of these games and more than worth the price of a premium membership for the platform.

I did get through writing this week's long-form article for the Geeky Guide - this being a bit of a guide and an analysis of the Forbidden series of games. I had some struggles writing this initially, as I didn't quite know how to hit my wordcount goal for the piece. But once I went through my first pass and expanded the different discussion sessions in the article, things started to flow better. I ended up exceeding my initial wordcount target, so I had to take some time to flesh the post out further with some supporting images.

We still have O Bar to look forward to tonight, but this has become our main social activity for the weekend. Tomorrow's online RPG session got called off due to real-life obligations for one of the players, so Tobie and I will be left to our own devices. We'll try to invest some of that time into learning how to play one of our newer board games, something we skipped last night in favor of more convenient digital adaptations.

Have a good weekend, everyone!
