After about 3 weeks of after-hours work on my other blog, the revamped Geeky Guide is live via Weblflow (as opposed to Blogger). This is the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) version of the site, just so I can theoretically start earning back my initial investments for the tech stack powering this site. That's a big IF since Google AdSense revenue is notoriously slow, and I don't expect to stick with AdSense long-term.
There are still some nice-to-have pages that I want to add, like a proper About page and maybe a guide to how I go through my board game reviews (oh gods, it's sort of the rubric). And there's the elephant in the room of the books' side of the Guide that isn't in place yet. One thing at a time!
For now, the goal is to get more reviews on the site so we get more search traffic. I only have 36 reviews in the new templated format, and we've tracked almost 6,000 plays across 900+ games via Board Game Geek, so that means I need to get closer to that 900 number at some point. Personal KPI is to get to a stable 50k website sessions, and that means churning out a LOT more content. The ideal scenario is to get somewhere close to this within the next 3 months...but we'll see.
I'm just so GLAD I got to this point. I kind of wanted to hire a developer more than a few times during this process, but I persevered, and here we are. There are still a lot of things to fix and things that could be a lot better, but we'll get there. At least I got it done, and the rest will just involve building on this.
FINALLY!!!
