02F89: Sunday Grab Bag

Sunday - Mythwind

So last night was one of those game nights where it took the entire evening to play just three board games. But to be fair, they were all meaty games with the last one being a first-time playthrough of one of my recent crowdfunded games. We started with a round of Emberleaf, as the first player to arrive still hadn't had a chance to try it. I still haven't won this game for one reason or another, but I still enjoy it a lot. Once the party was fully assembled, we finally brought Mythwind back to the table so we could resume our campaign, which hadn't moved since May of last year. Then our last game of the night was a first-time playthrough of Tend, which is a ridiculously large flip-and-write game.

We still finished pretty late, which meant I barely had time for 3-ish hours of sleep before our family book club meeting later in the morning. The combination of my alarms and repeated calls from my sister helped me get out of bed in time to talk about The Book of Lost Hours. Then I went back to sleep to be ready for the afternoon Pendragon RPG session.

I woke up to bad news. First, the game wasn't pushing through since one of the players wasn't feeling well, and we were already down one other player due to scheduling constraints. Then I realized I had a text from the repair shop that had my computer. Despite the initial assessment that the computer probably just needed a particular IC replaced, it seems the fix didn't work. So their updated diagnosis is that it's a deeper CPU issue and they're unable to repair it.

That leaves me on my backup computer for now until my next Singapore trip. It still feels smarter to acquire a replacement over there instead of here for obvious reasons. So I'll just have to make do for now, unless I come across a really good local deal before then.

All this resulted in a quieter Sunday afternoon. Tobie got to join me for another 4km walk around the village. It has been particularly windy tonight, which made the walk rather pleasant. Instead of listening to an audiobook, I got to hear more of Tobie's stories of growing up in the area as he pointed out different points of personal interest. It was both exercise and treasured quality time.
